Before you get started in your affiliate marketing endeavor, you need to know how to survive in the world of affiliate marketing. While you may have visions of huge paychecks dancing in your head, you need to be realistic. There really is no magic recipe to affiliate marketing. It takes hard work and persistence to see results.

With that being said, there are some tried and true strategies that have always worked and will always work for affiliate marketers. Think of these tips as your survival kit contents for affiliate marketing. They will help increase your sales as you pursue affiliate marketing.

Promote each product on a separate website.
While you may be tempted to create one website and promote all your affiliate programs from that site, don’t do it. You might be able to save a few bucks by going this route, and in the beginning if you are on a shoestring budget, you can do this until you can afford better. But don’t continue to run your promotions in this manner.

Create a website for each product you promote. Include helpful tips and articles for your customers to read. Give them product reviews as well, so they can see exactly how the product works. You can even go as far as providing your customers tutorials on how to use the product. Place testimonials on the website from happy customers who have used and love the product.

Give your customers access to free reports.
In addition to all the free stuff mentioned above, step it up a notch by offering your customers free reports periodically. Write a good report on the product you are promoting. Then offer it as a free incentive to customers when they sign up for your free tips list.

By gathering names and email addresses through a list, you now have access to your customer’s inbox. You can build a relationship with them and further encourage them to give the product a try. You can also send them helpful information about the product, to further entice them to purchase it. Remember to keep your emails friendly and not sounding like a cold hard sales pitch.

Targeted website traffic is a must.
To make sales, you have to have people on the website. To get people to your website, you have to put in some sweat equity. Don’t waste your money on buying a ton of links that are not targeted to your niche. It’s a waste of your money.

Instead, use free traffic generation methods, like article marketing, link exchanges and viral videos to pull in targeted traffic. Write and submit a couple of article every week to article directories, including a link to your website in the resource box at the end of the articles. This method has long been used by affiliate marketers and is proven to attract tailor-made traffic to your specific niche.

While these tips may sound too simple to be of any use at all, they are truly the foundation for every affiliate marketer today. If you are new to affiliate marketing, apply these tips and you will build a more solid foundation for your affiliate marketing business.
